i get my dry ice from Smiths.
I dont know where you are, but Walmarts in Sacramento CA do not, but it can be found in most every grocery store here. (Safeway, Raleys)
I think it kind of depends on what city/state you are in.

Last time I needed dry ice, [1967] we had to go to a icecream packing plant.
Special ordered for our school play for effects & it needed 'special handling' waivers!
