Beer from Ireland in the US?!

Question: I was at the store yesterday and most of the "Irish" beers were brewed somewhere else (including Guiness, made in Canada). Is there any authentic Irish Beer left in the USA?

By authentic, I am assuming brewed in Ireland and exported to the United States.
Yes there is, although availability may take some searching for your area.
I actually saw avariety pack including 3 of the following beers in the World Market stores this past weekend.

*The St. Francis Abbey Brewery brews Smithwick’s in Kilkenny Ireland
*Kinsale brews Kinsale in Kinsale Ireland
*Carlow brewing brews Oharas in Carlow Ireland
*Beamish and Crawford brews Beamish in Cork Ireland

What about Kilarney's? I'm not sure where it's brewed, but it's pretty yummy. Similar to Killian's.

Nevermind, I think it's from Anhauser-Busch. Guess you'll need to take a field trip to Ireland. Sounds like a good excuse to me.

I doubt it

Most of the time breweries overseas will set up here in the US and Canada to save money on importing. It is generally made the same as it is there. Heineken on the other hand, has a brewery in Canada, but in the US we import them from Holland.

The reason that they rarely sell beers made overseas is because the excessive movement does not agree with beer. The Beer made in the US or Canada tastes different because the different minerals and filtering methods have an effect on the final taste of the beer.

Honestly, all the True Irish beers I saw in Ireland when i was there you can't find in the U.S. Mainly due to alcohol volume and pricing for importing it. Most of the Irish, German & even English brews are over 9 % alcohol and here in the U.S.A., it's illegal to sell beer with that high of a quantity in beer. Sorry
