Why do some people think root beer and Dr. Pepper are the same type of drink?!
Answers: To me root beer and Dr. Pepper are two totally different drinks with distinctive flavor. Does everyone else agree and why do waiters suggest rootbeer to a patron if they don't sell Dr. Pepper? It doesn't make sense to me.
I think it might be because they don't have a "class" like cola, lemon/lime, orange or fruit soda. Since they are both dark colored and not cola, most people that don't drink either (or both) will suggest one or the other if the customers' first choice isn't available. Many places may only carry Coke or Pepsi and have only a root beer or Dr. Pepper as another non-diet soda selection. This is the only reason I can think of why one might be suggested if the other isn't available.
Since Dr. Pepper has caffeine and root beer doesn't these aren't even equal alternatives. I have recently given up caffeinated sodas, and although I like Dr. Pepper, Coke and Mountain Dew, I have found that a nice root beer works equally well to quench my craving for soda.
I also think they are totally different. I cant think of anything they have in common except that they are both a dark, carbonated soda. lol
They are a million times different. I wasn't aware that people thought they were the same. I can't imagine why they would think that... my cousin can't smell. She was born that way. To her, most things taste pretty much the same... so I would understand if she couldn't tell the difference between the two... but not many people have that particular excuse.
That's so weird!
Fook dem foools! Root beer is totally dominant. Like k dominates c.
Dr. Pepper and root beer are not even close. Root beer has a strong flavor and I don't really care for it. Now on the other hand I love some Dr. Pepper. If a waiter told me that, he would get a quick reality check. They are not the same. Dr. Pepper is much, much better. Love the Doc.
