There is no limit to the alcohol percentage allowed by law. HOWEVER, the Australian government charges taxation on spirits depending on the level of alcohol content. Therefor higher alcohol spirits tend to not appear as they are too expensive.
There are certain polish spirits as well as absinthe that are available in bottleshops across Queensland that have 95% alcohol content.
Common high alcohol lines are: Chartreuse (65%) and Absinthe which ranges from 50% to 95%.
These products are usually over $65+, so I think you are far better off buying something you enjoy drinking as per unit of alcohol it is the same price.
Feel free to thank the Australian government for the ridiculously high taxation system on alcohol that also causes most products, such as Jim Beam to be diluted down to 37% (instead of the 40% it is everywhere else in the world), in order to minimise tax.
