I believe it is not the many days in a week that a person drinks or the time of day. It is the amount they drink at any given time. if they drink till Black out regularly then they are an alcoholic.
Blacking out is the key as far as I am concerned.
I LIKE TO PARTY.
Most likely the former, the latter is mainly people just wanting to wind down after a hard day's work so don't take that as being a problem if you do it.
There are many definitions, some medical others based on perceived anti-social habits. I would say that the biggest indicator that someone is an alcoholic is when they cannot stop drinking every day.
If someone is drinking alone that is a big indicator and if their drinking serves no purpose other than to satisfy the body's craving for alcohol
Note: Alcohol is the only physically addictive drug which can kill you from withdrawal if you're addicted unlike the misconception that psychologically addictive drugs like heroin can..
But also be clear that there is a big difference between needing to drink and wanting to drink. Wanting to drink does not make you an alcoholic if there is a purpose other than drinking for the sake of getting drunk.
adayandforeverband: you are wrong, they're just a problem drinker NOT an alcoholic.. check AA before making assumptions
there are people who like to have alcohol all through the day. they dont like to work but only drink and they smell of alcohol. i will call that person as an alcoholic. drinking once a day is okay i guess as far as the person is in control of himself.
A person who drinks daily. It doesn't matter what time of day. Not to be confused with a beer or glass of wine for health benefits but one that drinks becuase they "have too." The ones that don't drink a small amount for the health reasons.
If the drinking goes beyond their free time and into the time that they should be working, driving sober or doing anything that requires responsibility then they are an alcoholic.
i drink everyday..my wife calls me an alco
If a person drinks more than 4 standard drinks every day then I would class them as alcohol dependent.
If they regularly drink 7 drinks a day then I would class them as an alcoholic. There rae other indicators - drinking alone, drinking when under stress. It doesn't just have to be drinking in the morning.
