Why do you have to be 19 years old in Long Island, New York to buy cigarettes?!
Answers: Because the Suffolk county legislature passed a law to raise the smoking age to 19.
Because the government wasn't smart enough to make the age requirement 65.
umm i live in newjersey and you have to be 19 to.
its a national law.
Because some do~gooder politician ran a campaign saying he was gonna help with young folks health and raise it. Just for votes. like a 19 old cant get smokes anyway. geez
oh my the smarter path for you to follow would be to spend that money on something else you really want instead of watching your money go up in smoke,,,,really,,,

The national age is 18 i bought my mom cigarettes when i was 18. but some states modify the laws (which is legal). It all depends on where you live.
