Restaurant advice for Montreal?!
Restaurant advice for Montreal?
I'll be in Montreal in June for the Grand Prix, and am looking for a recommendation on a good apportez votre vin (bring your own wine) restaurant.
Specifically, which ones have good wine and food knowledge in spite of the fact they do not carry their own wine list?
Also, I wonder if I brought my own wine on the plane in checked luggage. is two days enough time for bottle shock to settle?

Do you know which of the apportez votre vin places have decent stemware and decanters? I will probably bring my own stems anyway, but just wondering.

Having been a chef in Canada for 20 yrs and did a short stint at the QE, my advice would be wait until your here, if you bring your own, depending on the current or fututre restrictions on carry-on liquids, you would notwant to lose a good bottle to the airlines or break if require to put it in your checked baggage,, the SAQ has a wide selection and there are many all over the city, in downtown, in Place Ville Marie, in the train station, there is one on Ste Catherine, near Rue Guy.
The rules for the bring your own to the restaurant is catching on, it was recently introduced into Ontario, and if your into vintage wines, the Place Ville Marie outlet has a good selection.
Alot depends on the restaurant itself, most places in Montreal are very upscale and know the way to serve wines properly, shock issues would only apply to sparkling wines, and price wise, Quebec is very reasonable.
you should check out ristorante porto vino its very good also you can check out some reviews at restomontreal.ca hope this helps
