How to make homemade maple whiskey?!

Question:

How to make homemade maple whiskey?

Or Sweet Sap whiskey? My boyfriend and his father are trying to find a recipe for homemade whiskey, either maple or sweet sap. Anyone know of one?

Answers:
Well, if you just want to make a "wine" from the sap or syrup, just just add some yeast and sit back (dilute the syrup, or fermentation will begin slowly, diluting more for a less sweet brew). If you want a whiskey, you'll need to distill it - and you'll need a license to do that legally. Of course, that didn't stop the moonshiners from making their corn whiskey during Prohibition...

I have no clue how to make it, but if someone gives them a good recipe, let me know so I can try it out. missmandy28@yahoo.com

I'm intrigued by the concept (I love maple flavor) but amateur distilling is very dangerous. Think open flame and flammable gas!
