Have you ever drank alcohol before doing something that made you nervous?Did it help you?
Answers:
Well... alcohol is my favourite 'drug'.
I associate it with fun, with being sociable and with celebrations. I also use it to help me feel better when i'm tensed or unhappy, or to feel more confident.
Social drinking can be extremely pleasurable and, in moderation, may even have health benefits.
One snag is that, although alcohol initially acts as a 'pick-you-up' and mood - enhancer, it is ultimately a depressant; so a heavy night drinking is likely to leave you feeling worse rather than better.
Also, the more you drink, and the more often you drink, the more of it you need to feel the same effects. Over a period of time habitual over-consumption can have a wide range of consequences - social, psychological and physical.
We often are not aware how much we are drinking or its impact on those around us.
I STILL TAKE MY STAND THAT MODERATE DRINKING IS ACCEPTABLE & TO ANS UR QUESTION, YESSSSSSS, IT GIVES A 'TEMPORARY CONFIDENCE LEVEL'
Yeah, but it really didn't help me before my driving test.
Doesn`t help me, I either go to sleep or get hiccups
Yes I have - right before dancing, but if you are doing this to help you overcome something before attempting it, I'd like to suggest that you sip little by little to find out where your tolerance is.
No it was the worst choose in my life.
yea...took a shot of patron before doing a speech...it helps relax
Yeah, when I would go to the club I had to be drunk or I wouldn't dance.
Yes. It didn't help.
On many occasions..... however the down fall to this that the confidence aint real. Reality has a nasty habit of slaping me in the face the following day. Then my confidence is back down on the floor.
Realistically, it doesnt make you anymore confident. It just suppressed my fears and anxieties, but kept me having to face them one day
It's called "dutch courage"! Basically, booze provides fake courage... and it's worked for me numerous times. The reason why it works is that alcohol removes inhibitions. But learn from my mistakes: this is not always a good thing. Sometimes it's best to keep your mouth shut, not to dance and not to have that tantrum with that girl you've always disliked but never had the guts to stand up to. It does help, but it's a double edged sword. Be wary!
it doesnt really give you more confidence it just makes you more open...i donno i think its different
It doesn't help.
For one, you're producing it artificially. It's not like you just accomplished something. It's the booze. So the question is: are you going to drink alcohol EVERY time you want to have some confidence? If you're familiar with that line of thinking at all, you'll know that the person can become more and more dependent on the substance.
Plus, don't try to create something that isn't there to begin with. I had this problem when I was in my late-teens, early twenties. Eventually I figured out I couldn't control everything, or it will burn you out. You have to let stuff come to YOU sometimes. I've learned that I'm not the kind of person that likes to give speeches. That's not because I lack confidence. It's just that I lack confidence in giving speeches. That's just not in my repertoire. But there's a lot of stuff I am good at.
If you want to be confident with something it will come naturally.
Before going to the dance for I always have 2shots of tequilia (tradition), and one of vodka.
It just helps loose some nerves, but allows me to also be in control of myself. So far I haven't made a decsion which I regret (by if I ever do).
LIFE IS TOO SHORT, (albe it the longest thing you do)
Yes
i think everyone has
Yes! when i first started out singing i was soooo nervous when i first went on i'd indulge in a little (and only a little!) dutch courage!
