It's probably too young, yes. 18 is a good age to start making mistakes and learn respect for what alcohol can do to you.

No, as long as it's you making the choice and not peer pressure. Also, make sure you don't drink and drive.

Yes it is! For one thing it is against the law. Number two you are just too young to handle the effect of drinking. It effects your judgment in many ways. How would you feel if you were drinking and decided to try driving and ended up killing or paralyzing your best friend for life? It happens all too frequently! It is also something you would have to live with for the rest of your life! Think about it very seriously! I hope you make the right decision.

it's not "wrong". in a lot of countries in europe you can buy beer in shops and bars at 16 and spirits at 18.

yes

nope cos im 17 and drink and drank when i was 16...i didnt drink recklessly though i didnt hang round on the streets or anthing it was at special occasions and not in stupid amount...=]

It all depends on the culture you are raised in. Most Europeans start their children with watered wine at dinner when they are old enough to sit at the table. The older the child gets, the less water in the wine. This is because of the quality of the water available to drink.

In the USA, children are forbidden by law to have even a taste of alcoholic beverage until they are 18 or 21 depending on the state! You can get your parents sent to prison for 10 years in most states if you even taste alcoholic beverages. There is no "good behavior lessening of sentence" on this one!!

Personally I think children should be allowed to taste the stuff, drink enough to know it isn't a good thing to drink, before they are 13!!! A kitchen table party with only the alcohol, no food, no friends, and no chatter works best to get children over the "It's forbidden, so I want it" stage on this. Yeah!! this is a very boring party!!

its illegal

I dont know what the big deal is seriously, another person stated on one of ur answers that countries in Europe let 16 year olds have beer. I think because its so strict over here, thats why things are so messed up. Everyone wants to have what they cant, to an underage person, alcohol is amusing becuz people tell u that u cant.

yes, if not for moral reasons, then for legal reasons.

That's when everyone starts drinking. Mainly because you can drive anywhere you want and not tell your parents where you're going. You can keep the booze in your car and no one can find it. Drinking is part of growing up and hanging out. It's not wrong as long as you don't get caught.

Ya, Your liver is not fully developed plus it's illegal....

Nah. I started when I was 16... I'm 18 now and I drink a lot less than I did back then. You get it out of your system earlier and that's probably a good thing, as long as you're careful. It's pretty easy to get alcohol poisoning so make SURE you know the signs and that you know your own limit and don't go overboard.

nope,i started at that age

I've been drinking ocassionally since I was 12, and i didn't end up doing any crazy things. I still ended up nice and well.don't worry, it's a part of growing up, but don't force yourself if you don't want to, it is indeed illegal. Just have juice if you have doubts or anything.it doesnt really matter.

Yes... Unless you live in Europe

no not really as long as someone didn't push u into doing it

I think it is, if your doing it consistently (i.e. parties all the time, etc.) because your at an age where your body is still growing and maturing and I definitely think that consistent drinking can affect this stage of your life.
Or if your drinking just because your friends do it around you. I see so many young people talk about how they "got wasted" and declare it proudly. I feel like saying "bravo, you and about everyone else". Then again, I'm from a town with a population of 100,000 and apparently no one around here has heard of such a thing as a "hobby".
