Is it possible to 'drink yourself sober'?!

Question: Have you even heard of that saying? o.O
What is 'drinking yourself sober', anyway?

yes to a certain extent.. its not that you're sober (you're definately gona get more drunk) but its because the alcohol no longer affects your awareness of your surroundings as much. For example i'm on the highest buzz and least aware of my surroundings at about 15 standard drinks, but once I hit 20 I seem to generally become more aware again if i'm drinking at the same rate.
Obviously if you're just drinking as fast as you can then short answer is no because you'll end up in a pile of your own
vomit quite likely.
Enjoy those 25 drinks, don't rush them :)

no u cant, the only thing that makes u sober is time.

Not technically, but...sometimes it can feel that way. The hair of dog seems to do that.

Nope

No

I've only done it once- It was very strange and scary!!!

haha i wish.

WEN HAVE U EVA HERD OF THT!!!!!!!!

maybe talking bout coffees effect on hangovers? no its not possible like that

yeah you can drink till alcohol poisoning kills you and you cna be sober in death

there is no such thing as "drinking yourself sober". the more you drink, the more impaired you become, and eventually you will pass out after consuming too much alcohol

If you continue drinking.. your blood alcohol level will just continue to rise... especially if you drink fast.... You'll just become more drunk....

Quit drinking. It'll make you sober.

I don't know what expression you're talking about, but as long as one is not an alcoholic, this might apply...
I got really, really, really drunk and thought I was going to die. I vomited a lot, and the headache killed...grr. But anyway, ever since, even thinking about booze makes me wanna vomit.

I think what is meant by that is that you constantly drink excessively and at some point in your life you have a break through and realize that you need to stop drinking because of certain events that happened while you were intoxicated. So therefor you "drink yourself sober"

More or less, it's a rueful joke term. There's no truth to it, unless dropping dead counts as sober.

firstly i must say no, it is not possible to drink yourself sober with alcohol. Its just not the point. however, depending on what type of alcohol you are drinking and depending on time frame over which you are drinking you can drink until you no longer feel drunk.

example, Busch Light or any other light beer that is similar. if you drink 2-3 beers an hour and are moderately active lets say "camping" where your moving around fixing the fire and what not. you might feel pretty drunk for the first 3-4 hours but then you will most likely continue to drink and the beer will seem to not have the same effect and the first 8 or 10 beers. thats drinking yourself sober. in the morning you will still be hung over though.

if you sit at a bar and drink 2-3 beers an hour by the end of 3-4 hours you will be to drunk to stand. we'll call this the active alcoholic phenomenon. hope this helps

Are you really a doctor, or do you just play one on tv? sorry... had to ask!

No, you can't really drink yourself sober. I have, however, heard the term used before. Would be an interesting concept, though.

I did it once. I think I was starting to drink slower than usual. So I was sobering up quicker than I was getting drunk.

No, you are so drunk you think you are sober. And can sing. And dance. And tell funny jokes. And are a ladies man.
