What is a really nice inexpensive white and red wine?!

Question:

What is a really nice inexpensive white and red wine?

I am a college student and just moved out and cannot afford the wine I used to drink. ( I am not a lush) I grew up in Europe. I have tried a few and they have not been good. If it helps, I live in the PNW.

Answers:
A few years ago, I discovered a white called Martin Weyrich Muscatto Allegro. It's sweet, almost likea desert wine. Cheap, like $10 to $12 a bottle. Benton Lane makes a good, inexpensive pinot noir. About $15, out of Oregon. It's a little more fruit-forward, so it's lighter than most reds. A good red for people who are just starting with wine, or people who don't really like red wine.

Hope this helps

I'm only a fan of the red sorry:

Valley of the Moon - Cabernet
Palandrini - Merlot
Yellow Tail - Shiraz

All very good and fairly inexpensive.
Cheers !!!

A box of Chablis Blush should do you just fine.

I don't drink but I used to bartend and the people loved those boxed wines.

Whites:
Carlo Rossi Chablis - considering that this is a "jug" wine, it's remarkably flavorful
Rosemount Estate Traminer Riesling - tart and semi-sweet wine from Australia
Firestone Gewurztraminer - tangy and off-dry with a slight white-pepper finish

Reds:
Cribari Chianti - another better-than-you-think jug wine
C K Mondavi Zinfandel - one of my favorite bargain reds
Glen Ellen Cabernet Sauvignon
Meridian Central Coast Pinot Noir

just drink what you get
