I ate pasta with Vodka in it...?!

Question:

I ate pasta with Vodka in it...?

& now I have a terrible headache. I also feel very sleepy. Is this what happens when you consume alcohol?? I've never tried alcohol before this and if this is what it feels like, I don't think I'll ever try it again.

Answers:
I disagree that all alcohol is burned out when cooked.
The use of alcohol in cooking will not affect you if the food to which the alcohol has been added is fully heated following the addition of the alcohol. With heat the alcohol oxides and only the flavouring remains. However alcohol that is added after cooking will remain intact and could affect you.

Take a look at this chart, cause IDK what you eat.

But you could be sensible to alcohol. That is what happens to my sister when she has any contact with alcohol.

When you cook with alcohol, the alcohol burns off. Unless your sauce wasn't cooked you did not ingest alcohol the same as if you were drinking it.

Usually, when vodka is used for cooking, all of the alcohol burns out...so you might just have a headache from something else?

I seriously doubt that vodka sauce caused your headache. Any alcohol in the vodka is cooked out before you eat it.

Pasta ala Vodka has alcohol in the sauce. But when you cook with alcohol, that alcohol gets evaporated before you ever eat the food, only the flavor of it is left. That's why a restaurant could serve it to a five year old and not get in trouble. I don't think this is why you have a headhache and feel sleepy. Alcohol for most people isnt harmful. Its just when it become a habit or becomes destructive that its best avoided.

HELLO! The alcohol evaporates when cooked, you are sleepy because your stomach is working to digest the food, take a nap you'll feel better.

drink more and the pain will go away

For those of you that still think alcohol evaporates when you cook with it, read this: http://www.betterendings.org/recipes/coo...

There is no such thing as pasta with vodka in it dork!

Wouldn't be the vodka sauce. Take an aspirin, and a nap, and hopefully your date didn't spike your meal with something.

Normally when you make food with alcohol the alcohol is cooked out of it, you may have had a "sensitive" reaction to something else in the dish. If you ate a lot of the pasta, pasta can make you sleepy because it is very high in carbohydrates and can make you feel lethargic.

Boo that terrible headache is what you call a hangover, and the sleepy feeling you feel is the alcohol.
