i like it but it is way too overpriced and the amount of alcohol for that price is so little, its just not worth it. are there any other good tequilas that are actualy of good quality but are cheaper that patron? i want good quality paticularly for shots

I don't think it's overpriced - you get what you pay for. Patron Tequila is like wine, it's aged in barrels. Also it's made from premium agave fruit.
I like my patron anejo 80 over ice and not taken as a shot - it goes down too fast without me being able to appreciate the flavor. If you want a cheaper tequila, try Campo Azul (app. $25 750 ml) , Jose Cuervo, or Sauza.
The quality gets better, the more shots you consume. When you're on your 20th or 25th shot, it doesn't matter if you're drinking "Chateau Cardboard". If you can get to the stage where you are lying face up on the carpet, and a friend has to tip the shots directly into your gaping mouth, then you've won...
I like one called Respado 1800... not to expensive, but not as smooth as patron, but a great value for its price
Patron is expensive beacuse it appeals to alot of demographics. Think about it, "ethnically" speaking rappers and other hip-hop stars alwyas have it in their videos, which makes viewers want to buy it accordingly; and upper end like the other people who answered said, Patron is actually quite well made, its barrel aged and that also gets the more legitimate buyer to get it as well. Not to be sterotypical, but going by the numbers, blacks make up 12.3% of the US, but according to a few Beverage journals, they make up 35-40% of the hard liquor market. Patron can increase the price vs. other competitors, because history shows that people will buy it, especially with so many potential buyers.

Patron is expensive because they do a lot of marketing and have to pay for it :)
There are many tequilas out there that are worth the $$$, starting with the best Casa Noble, other choices are Tesoro, Chinaco, Fina estampa, Don Julio, Herradura... and the list goes on.
Although good tequila is not really for shots, I recommend sipping, this way you can actually taste the spirit and you can get your money's worth.
