Answers: Is it not coincidence that alcohol and tobbaco are banned in muslem countries.

the whole thing is a bloody joke

i would like to see the government get by without all the duty the both provide

Tracey xx

Had not thought of that but do not think that is the reason. Its our PC Brigade.I smoke & whats get me is the Government will not stop the companies from selling them simple reason they get too much tax off the Tobacco & if they did the NHS would grind to a halt. The same applies to beer.

I think you'll find that tobacco is not banned in Muslim countries. Alcohol is tolerated in many muslim countries too, more for the benefit of tourists than anything else.

They can sell these products under the counter here, but I can't see it making much difference, it's peoples attitudes that need to change, instead of this silly, limp wristed, cheap, lazy peace of legislation.

BTW I have purchased much of my alcohol here in the UK from shopkeepers who are Muslims.

well its never stopped the blind so cant see how thats going to work!

It is the biggest load of bull going.

By the way most muslim countries tolerate both alcohol and cigarettes I have been to Turkey and Morocco many times and they all drink like fishes and smoke them selves silly.

Alcohol abuse in the UK is also nothing whatsoever to do with price in is about our dreadful culture. I live in Portugal now and wine is as cheap as 30p a bottle but you do not see Portuguese kids pissed up all over the place. Ciggies are 3 euros a packet and can be bought anywhere but no problems.

It is the sad nanny state that UK has become. Look at the chancellor delivering his budget speech with a glass of 'tap water' Just look it the guy anyhow he looks like a total freak.

Sorry to rant but that is why I got out of there and went abroad.

No country would have these substances as legal commodities if they were invented today, let alone Islamic countries! These Islamic countries obviously saw the dangers of these poisons as well as did the Americans in the 20's with the prohibition era,it's a study on its own!I think to comply with Euro legislation this 'under the counter'business is just a token gesture, sales will flourish because these two more than crack or heroin are highly addictive drugs.I stopped both of them over a year ago through serious illness caused by drinking alcohol.
