Does a Humidor really need a hygrometer?!
Answers: I am a new cigar smoker and am looking at this humidor http://www.famous-smoke.com/cigars/searc... and i notice that it does not come with a hygrometer. does it really need it? and also how long will my cigars last in this box? and also is this a good one for the price? please help me if you can.
If it works for your quantity requirements, it will work for keeping your sticks. Its a good price for what it is.
To best keep your cigars, you should consider getting a hygrometer. I recommend digital as they are more accurate than the more decorative and less accurate analog.
If you keep your cigars stored in an approximate climate of 70 deg F with 70% humidity (give and take a few digits in each direction) your cigars will last indefinately. I have a couple of sticks that are 20 yrs old and still smokable thanks to proper storage.
Be sure to properly season your humidor per manufacturers instructions (very, very, VERY important).
For about $40.00 you can get a humi with a little larger capacity and hygrometer with humidification system (I always upgrade both to digital hygrometer and a Diamond Crown humidification system) Be sure to used distilled water!
Great choice going with Famous........ They have gr8 pricing and an awesome online cigar auction (I get a lot of my sticks from auction)
