How many people bring their own wine glasses to restaurants?
I've thought about doing this for certain restaurants, but have not actually done so. Just wondering if anyone actually does this on a routine basis, just in case the restaurant does not have proper tasting glasses. Too pretentious?
Answers:
I think it does hint at being a bit pretentious, but then again if the restaurant you're visiting doesn't have the proper glasses for their respective wines, then you probably won't want to have the wine anyway. Restaurants that have better quality wines usually also have the correct stemware to complement the wines (therefore complementing the food) to insure that the customers will have a pleasant dining experience and want to come back.
Whoever does that is weird, don't be weird.
Yes, it's pretentious.
But it's your life. Do what you want and make no apologies for it.
my dear there are wine not ice
my page brings my wine-tasting glasses wherever i eat i would not deign to set my lips on the peasant fare that is offered at today's restaurants. i also bring my own plates, silverware, napkins, and ingredients for the chef to prepare my meal just in case they do not have proper tasting plates, silverware, napkins, or ingredients.
