Does 10 % beer tastes good?!

Question: i like ordinary beer but is 10% too much for taste?

IMO 10% ABV is a pretty safe cutoff in the brewing process before special care needs to be put in to balancing a brew. Up to 10% it's really easy to hide the alcohol in a beer and generally in doing so you make a very rich and layered beer. I would say more often than not that a 10% beer is very good, maybe not for pounding, maybe not for cooling off in the brunt of a summer afternoon, but definitely enjoyable with a meal or to sip on with a good book/movie/whatever.

Will you dig it? That's hard to say given the broad range in "ordinary" beers and 10% beers. Some people find Guinness to be too heavy and rich for their tastes and 10% beers are more or less 3 times a Guinness. Either way, $4-10 to indulge your curiousity is a small price to pay for something you may find you immensely enjoy.

Some relatively easy to find beers to check out...
Sierra Nevada Bigfoot Barleywine
Sam Smith Russian Imperial Stout
Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA
Stone Ruination
North Coast Old Stock Ale
Ommegang 3 Philosophers
Delerium Tremens

Basically styles like Double/Imperial IPA, Double/Imperial Stout, Old Ale, Barleywine, Belgian Dubbel/Tripel/Quadrupel, and other random imperial "Beer X" and double "Beer Y".

Beers that are 8 - 12% ABV are typically very tasty, very drinkable, and do not taste strongly of alcohol. It kind of amazes me that anyone actually enjoys drinking ~4% ABV beer and running to the bathroom every two minutes. Anyhow, the best beers in the world come from Belgium, and they are typically high ABV.

10% beer can taste good or bad. It depends on what you like and how the beer is made. An IPA can be one example of a High alc. beer that is VERY bitter and doesn't appeal to most run of the mill beer drinkers. A belgian beer like the dubbel or tripel is made with a candi sugar and has high alc. % but not the typical hot alc. flavors. Belgians typically are not bitter like IPA's are and are quite tasty! However I also like IPA's so I'm impartial. SO I guess the question is what is "Ordinary" beer to you. Bud/Miller/Coors? Or do you enjoy craft beers like Bells or Flying Dog?

high alcohol beer is referred to as "high gravity" beer. these usually are english style brews (ale), but they can be belgium ale, barley wine or lambics. can be sweet or dry. (wide variety). if you are a "lawn mower" beer drinker...ie bud light. you won't care for them.

Heck, one of my personal favorites... Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA is 21% and it taste great. If you are looking for something in the 10% range grab a Rochefort 10... One of the best beers on the planet. I recently gave one to a co-worker... The next day he said he was never drinking Corona again.

not particularily. if you are thinking of bull max, then definately not! get a nice canadian ice beer, or malt liquor ranging from 6.2 to7.4% and drink a few more of them and i bet you will appreciate it better. i just drink the lighter beer, and throw in a few good shots of straight vodka to prime the pump before hand, when i want to get tight in a hurry.

Doppal Bock. YEEAAHH!!!!!

never heard of 10% beer? if there is such a product i cant see it being a bestseller,
