What is a good Chardonnay, that is not so pricey?!

Question: Try Sutter Home, I like it. It's not pricey at all.

The CHARLES SHAW ("two buck chuck") label of wine is found at TRADER JOE'S. It's only $2.
Chardonnay, Petit Sirah, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, etc. It's all there. And guess what? It's delicious!

Sonoma Cutrer: $20, (double-extra-super-excellent)

Toasted Head: $13 (just plain super-excellent)

Charles Shaw 2005: $3 (a.k.a. "Three Buck Chuck"; don't laugh, it's great stuff if you can find it where you live)

There are two kinds of Chardonnay. There is the oak aged kind which has the "buttery" texture and flavor, and the "unoaked" which is more like a Sauvignon Blanc.
You can probably find a relatively good oaked kind for under $10.00. Ravenswood has a decent one.
The unoaked, is a little harder to find and they tend to run a little more since there are fewer producers. I like those a little more since they usually are produced with better grapes and don't have the "heat" which is the feeling you get in the back of your throat from under-aged or cheaper wines.
Ask your local retailer what they recommend. Most are very helpful and now, some of the grocery chains are having tastings you can take advantage of and their people are more knowledgeable.
Of course there are some great ones but they aren't in my budget.

I agree with Toasted Head. So good! Here's a tip...DON'T chill your Chardonnay. The layers of flavors will be much more prominent.

Robert Mondavi Reserve, As good as any Chard on the market, unless you are a somalier. Around $10 .Good luck
