has anyone seen those commercials on tv when those kids put the leaches on there bodies i dont know why they do that.i think it is stupid..

Well, it's an anti-drug commercial, and is designed to portray the idea that even if a trend is "stupid," there will still be peer pressure for everyones' friends to be stupid with them. For example, the anti-drug company was probably thinking of pot, in which case even though it's a stupid habit (and unhealthy, and weird I guess?), people do it anyway because of peer pressure.
But yeah, I do agree with you that the commercial is pretty bizarre and made me want to turn off the TV... I wasn't exactly discouraged from doing drugs after seeing leeches on peoples' legs. What did they call it again? "Smolling" or something?

Yes...it grosses me out.
its a commercial making fun of drug use. Its suspose to be stupid. Although on the flip side leaches have been used in the medical feild for centuries. they use them to purify blood. The leaches filter out toxins and heavy metals. So the kids might actually have a point.

I have seen the commercial.
It is making fun of smoking marijuana or cigarettes. The message is: why do something that is bad for you just because everyone else is doing it?
I think the commercial fails because smoking pot is way more fun than sucking on a leach...or at least I would imagine :-)

It is making fun of how addictive it is... saying that other things are addictive too... showing you how it is from a different perspective (humorous)
