After your drink 5 beers, how long does it take til you are sober again?!

Question:

After your drink 5 beers, how long does it take til you are sober again?

Also, if you throw up after the 5 beers, are you sober again?

Answers:
The length of time after you finish drinking alcohol that it will still be in your system depends on how much you drank and the period of time in consideration. Generally speaking, people metabolize alcohol at the rate of 1/2 ounce per hour (that's half an ounce of absolute alcohol -- or one "standard" drink) -- roughly equivalent to: 12 ounces of beer, 10 ounces of microbrew, 6 ounces of wine cooler (or hard lemonade), 1-1/4 ounces of 80-proof liquor or 4 ounces of wine. Therefore, if you consume five standard drinks -- regardless of how long it took you to drink them -- it would take you 5 hours to be completely free of alcohol. This should hopefully make it apparent that alcohol builds up in your body over time because the liver can only metabolize one an hour. That's why it is dangerous for people to "chug" alcohol or play drinking games. If you consume large quantities of alcohol in a short period of time, you can quickly get a toxic or lethal dose in your blood stream. Unfortunately, once it is absorbed from the gut (which occurs relatively quickly), there's nothing you can do to "get rid" of the alcohol except wait for it to be metabolized by the liver.

To sober up:
One hour for each drink consumed

Your liver can only metabolize one ounce of alcohol per hour. Good luck.

5 hours and hell no

one hour for each beer, and nooo way are you sober.

it takes the liver 20 minutes for each once of alcohol.

That all depends on your size, how much you ate prior to drinking, how hydrated you were before you started drinking, how quickly you drank, and the overall state of your immune system while you were drinking. Plus everyone is different.
So there is no concrete answer.
And no, you are not sober after throwing up because some of the alcohol has already made it into your bloodstream. You might feel better after throwing up, but you are still intoxicated.
Don't believe that by drinking coffee, eating bread, chugging water, or taking a cold shower are going to sober you up either. The only thing some of those "magic cures" can do is aleviate some of the side effects of being drunk, but you are still drunk. You cannot make your body metabolize alcohol any faster. The only thing that can make you sober is TIME.

five hours to sober again

It depends on the gender and weight factor.Either way, you are screwed, I'm afraid.Even if someone can elude throwing up, there is still the stupid headache that tons of excedrine never seems to fix:(
