Good, tastey beer?!

Question: I'm in England at the moment and I miss the great beer Seattle has. All my buddies are drinking Stella, Carling and *shudders* Fosters - I guess because it's cheap.

What good beers can anyone reccomend? I found a store that does all kinds of beers - and I've developed an infatuation with Cherry Beer (I forget the brand - lovely Organic stuff) - but alas, my husband calls it 'B*tch Beer' and won't drink it. What beefy English beers can I get him drunk off??!?!

ooh messy rosie me ole cocker - come round mine for a few pints of bitter and a packet of pork scratchings. You can die me wee-hive for me if you want love

Depends what you are looking for really. England has many great beers although most of them are old Ales not poetically commercial. They are less gassy and often have strong flavours. Try camra.org.uk ( Campaign for real Ale) website for their recommendations. One of my favorites is Spitfire.

If not rather than the muck that is Carling go for something European, particulally from Belgium.

A beer that I like is from the oldest brewery in the United States. It is called Yuengling. Try any of their flavors.

.

I don't know what you can get over in England but in Denmark there's a rather good and increasingly popular American style brewery called Mikkeller. Aside from that there's also select Belgian beers taking a bit of influence from American brewing practices like Urthel's Hop It and Brasserie d'Achouffe's Houblon Chouffe Dobbelen IPA Tripel.

Being that you're in England though I'd seize the opportunity to load up on as much cask ale as you can given that it's a pretty rare practice here in the states. A pint of fresh bitter may not be as robust as an American double IPA but you're not going to get it anywhere esle.

Try Heineken or San Miguel, enough said.

ABSOLUTELY THE BEST. EITHER THE ESB OR LONDON PRIDE WOULD DO HIM WELL.

Go for the best - Guiness

London Pride is really good.... If they drink stella .. keep an eye out for Lowenbrau tasty stuff.

And if you like fruity beer try "Fruli" Strawberry beer really good even better on tap.

Best of luck.

First learn to spell correctly. It is not spelled "tastey", it's spelled "tasty". Learning to spell might make you seem a little bit more mature than you are.
