Boredom and loneliness did make me drink heavily in the past but far from solving the problem...it was aggravated.

Boredom of loneliness is caused by lack of activity and hence I suggest you find something to do that you really enjoy or go out with people you like, if they are free. Usually, I would stay home, drink and brood when bored or lonely and that would restrict my capabilities to venture out and drive.
I found that one of the best ways to kill boredom is enter a shopping mall or department store and walk around- taking a liesurly look at the stuff on display. Doesnt cost.
And drink only in the evening, while watching TV or chatting or writing emails.

Currently slinging back my third Miller Light beer. as low in calories as they are, I want to pop in my Tae Bo to burn it off but hurt my ankle a couple of days ago:(
