They both taste like grapefruit in the background with a very clear aroma of papaya/tropical fruit that I think dominates the overall smell.

If you are buying wine for dessert then try ice wine. It comes in a smaller bottle and is very sweet.
Columbia Crest's Grand Estates Chardonnay: it happens to be very reasonable at about $8.99, I didn't take it seriosly at one point because of the price. But this is currently my favorite white wine period at any price.
One of the reasons it is not expensive is because they decided to mass produce it, and not make it limited. You will NOT be let down.

For white, I prefer Sutter Home's White Zinfandel. It's crisp and sweet, not too dry, and is relatively affordable.
Moscato is probably the sweetest wine I've had.
Hogue Riesling. BEST. WINE. EVER.
