What is an average hourly wage for a bartender making tips also?!

Question: Varies greatly from where you live (the population of the city), what type of bar you work at (restaurant or bar), how fast you work (you better know your **** if you want to make it in this business), and whom your customers are (rich gentlemen, college students, and drunks are the best), and on what nights of the week you bartend on (Mondays suck, Saturdays rock).

Generally speaking though you won't make less than minimum hourly wage (and if you are, you better be making DANK tips). Throw in the tips at a regular bar in a semi-metro area and you should make about $15 to 20 an hour on average.

From personal experience (I live in a town of 200,000, I have 2 years experience, and I have worked in both a restaurant bar and regular bar):

My best night I made $550 (6 hour shift with wage and tips), and on my worst night I made $30 (5 hour shift with wage and tips)

if u got these (o)(o), u make alot of D's

depends on state.

will vary GREATLY from bar to bar. minimum wage plus tips.
Tips can be nothing to several hundred dollars. Depands on where you work and how good you are.

It all depends on the bar. Most bars pay about $5 per hour. The tips are where you make your money. On a good night, I can make up to $400, if it is packed.

There are too many factors involved with this questions. Different states have different minimum wages for food service workers. Also, it depends on what kind of bar and how busy the bar is.

i bartend in cali, and we make min. wage which is 8/hr plus tips. i know certain states can pay you less than min wage per hr if u make tips, but ive worked in cali and nevada and they dont do that.if your lucky, youll get paid more than min wage per hr plus your tips

depends on the state. In VA, i think it's the standard min. wage that servers get (something like 2.13) plus tips. Not bad at all if you work somewhere that is busy and not overstaffed...should leave making at least 150 a night. Most places make you "work-up" to being a bartender tho. So don't expect to make bank right of the bat unless you have some prior experience.

as they have all said it depends on what type of bar, what state and amount of business for that particular area.I make 40,000/year. others in bigger better cities stomp me and others in smaller less active areas are far far below me.
