If you pumped breast milk, can you drink?!

Question: My friends and I were having a margarita night and we were wondering if she pumped breast milk to feed him with, how long until the alcohol is out of her system and she can drink again?
Spare me the lectures please. I know. Im just asking a question

i'm currently expecting and planning to breastfeed as well, i'm in a breastfeeding class and they advised you could pump and dump the first pump after drinking, but after about 4-6 hours the alcohol is no longer in the breast milk anyway. so i would think just sleeping through the night is enough, but i personally would pump and dump the first pumping afterward anyway just to be on the safe side.

huh?

I honestly can't say how long it is in your system, but when I breast fed I would occasionally drink. It didn't harm my child, at least that I could tell. I didn't drink more than 1 drink. A co-worker said she had the occasional drink and the child slept longer.

I don't think one or two might harm the baby, but it's better not to do it to be on the safe side.

Ah! The old "pump and dump".

My friends who have done this will drink at night, go home and pump...sleep...and then feed the baby in the morning.

I pretty much quit drinking when I had kids b/c the prospect of taking care of children when I had a hangover didn't appeal.
