What are the best things to do before, during, and immediately after a night of drinking to prevent a hangover!

Question: Looks like I might be indulging in a bit of drinking tonight, but I will also have some work to do tomorrow. Other than simply limiting drinking (which is of course the best option), what are some other strategies to help ease this unwanted result?

Before:
No asiprin, tylenol, alternate booze with water, eat small snacks while drinking, go with clear booze (gin, vodka) or white wine over red wine/beer/dark booze (whiskey, rum)

During:
Try to limit to one drink per hour (yea right), alternate each drink with drink of water, keep your stomach full with snacks

After: Lots of water, water and more water, in the morning, take a multivitamin or two...eat complex carbs (bread, bagel) NOW take aspirin, tylenol, coffee/tea/cola will help the headache (the caffine) and keep drinking water

The booze is dehydrating your body...obviously hydrating it at the same time will help counteract the hangover...and sticking with "processed" booze (gin and vodka) will minimize the toxins.

Have fun...don't drive!

water, water water. drink it all day b-4. After done drinking b-4 bed and asap when you wake.

water before, water during and water right before going to sleep.

make sure u have a big starchy dinner before you go out and a glass of milk before you drink to line your stomach. don't drink too fast! and try to have water or soft drink every other drink or so! if not have a big glass of water and a couple of paracetamol when u get home, then more paracetamol and water the next day!

The Top Five Hangover Preventions
1. Drink water while drinking alcohol
2. Snack while drinking
3. Drink high quality alcohol
4. Take B-Complex and Vitamin C
5. Take Ibuprofen

Chaser. They sell it in drugstores. It contains activated charcoal that absorbs some of the toxins that make you feel ill. I love red wine but certain kinds give me a headache even if I don't over-indulge. I tried it and it worked.

But don't think you can REALLY throw down just because you take it. :-) Have fun.

Lot's of water.

Do a big poo, empty the yourself! And lots of water

drink water before.
drink water during.
drink a pint of water after.

Before you drink much, have a good meal-don't drink on an empty stomach.

Mixing too many things should be avoided. Pace yourself. Don't drink too much too early. Remember your out for the night. Avoid drinking games!!!!

Before you go to bed take two aspirin, one or two B complex vitamins. Wash them down with a large glass of water. Then in the morning take more aspirin with a glass of OJ.

Have a good time and remember - don't drink and drive or let your friends do so.

DON'T drink water after you wake up it will cause you to vomit ALOT. Switch off drinking alcohol with water all night long, ie you have a beer or a shot then you have at least 4 oz of water. Beer, water, beer, water, beer water. Salty things dehydrate your body increasing the hang over affect. I know that chips, and pretzels go well with a pint but they increase your chance of having a major headache in the morning. Avoid eating massive amounts of carbs like I know I do when I drink. Fries, breads, pastas are all things to avoid. They turn into sugar, as does alcohol in your body. So by the morning you have an increased blood sugar level and a nice headache to prove it.

Another contributer to your hangover is the lack of the vitamin B-12, pop a B-12 supplement BEFORE your first drink along with a couple glasses of water. In the morning following your drinking allow yourself to get plenty of sleep. Call it an early night, and get at least 8 hours of sleep more if it's a possibility. Things that people say work usually don't ie greasy food, a beer aka hair of the dog, chugging water, all of these things may work for them but chances are the only thing you can do when you wake up hung over is stay still to keep this planet from spinning, keep a pail close by the bed, and vow never again to drink. Your best bet is the preventative part, but once you actually have the hangover your screwed. Unless of course your a smoker of the wakey tabbacey, that ALWAYS helps the vomiting part not neccesarily the headache part. This is a proven fact that marijuana helps with sick stomachs.

Before you drink, you do want to have some food in your stomach, preferably something filling, bread, or lettuce. During the night, you don't want to mix beer with spirits too much, even though, if you vomit during the night, i can gaurantee that you will feel better in the morning, it gets everything out of your system, but you still feel good for a few hours. When you wake up, if you feel bad still, you'll want to sweat it out, if you have access to a sauna, then about a half hour will have you feeling great. Or just run it out for awhile, but you may vomit again while running, lol.
