It's a huge industry. Google is your friend.

you don't need any beer, boy!

You can make it at home, or at a company where you do it on site so you don't need the bottling equipment. Most grocery stores sells kits.

absolutely. my roomate is fermenting beer right now in his closet. he had one of those kits. and then a girlfriend of mine was just telling me that she knows some people in college who major in like physics and that sort of thing, who brew their own beer. they college gives them free hopps and they go from there. a kit would be they best way to go though if ur just beginning. ive tasted beer made from a kit, and it was quite good.

Some of the best beers are homebrewed.

Look into homebrewing beer. You should be able to find reccomendations for a good beginner's homebrew book. You'll want to get a homebrew kit -- couple of buckets, bottles, some specialty tools. Check to see if you have a local homebrew supply shop (most cities will have one). If so, ask them what they reccomend for you.

BTW, almost all beers you can make at home will be ales. Lagers ferment at lower temperatures, but ales are around room temperature so they take exceptionally well to a stable environment -- spare tub, closet, etc.

Good luck, it's very rewarding to produce your own beer.

Very possible. Most home brews I have had are way better than most anything you can buy in a store. Careful though, it becomes a very addicting(yet rewarding) hobby. You can buy starter kits from any of hundreds of on-line stores and the whole process usually takes between 3-5 weeks depending on the recipe.

Oh, boy! Is it ever! I suggest starting with a book designed fro beginners. My favorite is by Papazian, The New Complete Guide to Homebrewing. The --- for Dummies series has a pretty fair one on homebrewing as well.

If you like what you read, either buy a kit or piece one together. You can usually get fairly good deals on eBay, especially if you can find a used kit. Once you have that, if you are lucky, there will be a homebrew shop nearby. Tell the proprietor that you have a kit and are just starting out. His eyes will shine and he will give you all the advice you could ever want because he will see you as a potential repeat customer. He will probably start you out on an all-extract ale, which is the easiest and most forgiving.

Once you have gotten your feet wet, so to speak, you can try other recipes or even start tweaking your own.

Good luck.
