If you want to become a bartender how do you do it?!
Answers: Do you have to go to like bar tending school or something lol
THE SCHOOLS ARE A RIPOFF.
That said, you normally have to work your way up. They want you to have experience in the place itself and get a feel for how everything works. As for what they want in drinks, it varies completely. Some want just simple, common drinks while others want the newest thing. Also keep in mind its not a steady pay and some days you're not going to make much if you're just going on tips which is what most bartenders make.
That would be a good idea. Some states also have a 'servers license' that you need to get. It is a class 12 or 13 in the State of Washington.
You should go to a bar attendent school if you want to be certified but some places will train you on site or like my buddy did he just winged it in the interview for his bar job and he aced it with all the mix drinks that he already knew how to make so you got some options
Come to england and ask at any bar, no talent needed, u get taught everything there an then.
In the UK you dont need any experience, you could just go for a bar staff job, and they will train you themselves.
Im not too sure whether its different in the USA though.
Good Luck

Go to a restraunt that serves alchol like Applebees start working there work your way up to bartending most places in house train
they have bartending schools or if you have a bartender friends they may be able to teach you somethings, but i think you need a certificate if you want to work outside of your house :) good luck and make me a drink
Sweetheart, in England you just ask in a club or bar. I honestly don't know about the states. I would imagine that you could get a diploma from a collage.
i almost never say school is a waste of time, however bartending school is. Start somewhere as a cocktail waitress and learn the business and the personality that goes with it. you have to be sharp witted and think on your feet. school cannot teach those crucial skills. pay attention to what's being poured, ask questions when not busy, stick around and get promoted within... if you're sharp it will work out
Call around little dive bars in the area, just open a phone book and start calling to see if they need anyone. Thats how i got my start. bartending school is a waste of money, bars want people with hands on experience.
you would be trained for the job it is an enjoyable job I used to do it myself and thoroughly enjoyed the experience I wouldn't say you had to go to school lol
Go and talk to some different place. Talk to the bartenders and managers. More than likely you wont be placed at bartender right away. Just let them know you're willing to work your way up. Getting a job as a bar back is one of the best roads to take. You'll do a lot of cleaning glassware and changing kegs, but you'll be working directly with the bartenders so you'll learn a lot from them. All the bartenders at the place i work including myself started as either a bar back or a server.
