Very hard to answer. One of the reasons there are so many different mixed drinks is that people have different tasts.
Get a bar tenders book and start mixing, find out your own favorite taste, that should be fun, and expensive also.
Wow, I don't think there is anything that tastes good with whiskey unless it's more whiskey.
I don't love whiskey, and I don't even like Red Bull...
but Whiskey-Red Bull is unbelievably good. Try it.
1: 2oz whiskey
6 oz coke
2: 2oz whiskey
6 oz 7up
3: 1 1/2 oz Blended Whiskey
3/4 oz Sweet Vermouth
Ice
Stir with ice and strain into cocktail glass. Top with an olive. \
4: T-Bird
1 oz Canadian Whisky
1 oz Amaretto
2 oz Pineapple Juice
1 oz Orange Juice
1/2 tsp Grenadine
Ice
Shake with ice and strain into a glass filled with ice. Top with an orange wedge and a cherry. Serve with a straw.

1 1/2 oz Canadian Whisky
1/2 oz Cherry-flavored Brandy
1 1/2 tsp Lemon Juice
1 1/2 tsp Orange Juice

1 part Southern Comfort
1 part Peach schnapps
1/2 part sweet 'n sour
splash of grenadine for color.
