Do barbacks work on a tips only basis?!

Question:

Do barbacks work on a tips only basis?

Do barbacks get a salaray as well as tips? do restaurants, and every place serving alchohol require them?

Answers:
Most Bar-backs make Minimum wage for Servers in the food service industry which usually runs anywhere between $2.00 to $3.00 an hour. Most restaurants usually use bus boys as their bar-backs and most bars have to have them due to the fact that most night the bartender is usually way to busy mixing and serving drinks. List of duties usually involves running for ice restocking beer coolers, changing kegs, restocking liquor washing glasses and every once in awhile depending on how busy the bar is I've known a few bar backs that pop tops on beers and pour drafts.

no barbacks get paid by the hour, its very low and they mostly rely on tip outs from the bartender. No not every place requires them it depends on the business and how busy they are.

Nobody in the service industry works only for tips. However, barbacks, as essentially bartender apprentices, do receive pooled tips from meals or a shared bar tip jar. Some bars/restaurants require tip pooling on credit card transactions, which is redistributed to the team based on seniority and work detail. Barbacks are pretty low on the food chain, along with bussers, (no pun intended) so they probably wind up with less.

in the club where i worked they got a 40-50 dollar shift pay then a tip share from the bartenders
