Is it the carbonation or the sugar in pop that makes you drunker?!

Question: I saw somewhere on TV a while ago that drinking pop rather then juice will make you more drunk. I cannot remember if this is due to the carbonation in the pop or the sugar. Does anyone know?
Thanks

The carbonation in the soda when mixed with alcohol will make you drunk faster. The same thing with a champagne at 10%abv versus regular wine at 10% abv, the champagne will get you buzzed faster. The reason being is that the bubble add surface area to the alcoholic mix, exposing more alcohol to the stomach and intestinal lining. Also, CO2 absorbs rather quickly into the bloodstream and will facilitate the faster absorption of alcohol.

I wasn't aware that juice OR pop could get you drunk...

It is actually the alcohol that makes you drunk.
However, a hangover will be far worse when drinking pop as mix. The sugar in the pop helps dehydrate you which causes the headache. Juice is a much healthier alternative.

its the jack

POP, or soda in some states, doesnt make you drunk. Alcohol does. and carbonation has nothing to do with it.

I think the carbonation may make the alcohol get into your system faster so your liver gets overloaded faster.

There's no alcohol in soda or juice. Some of the energy drinks have high concentrations of caffeine and sugar in them but no alcohol.
