Well, originally Mexicans put limes in their beer to keep the flies out. I guess someone thought that it was supposed to go IN the beer, but it's not. Now, it's just common practice, although more and more I've noticed less people requesting limes at my bar. Maybe the word is getting out.
Also, Corona (no offense) is a crap beer. It's served in a clear bottle (light is bad for beer, that's why most bottles are tinted), and, come to think of it, it's the only one I can think of that's served that way.
Lime and salt......Some people put V8 or clamato juice with the lime and salt..Good idea.
