Still whiskey at home?!
Answers: Can someone explain why here in the UK, I can brew beer and make my own wine at home but is not allowed to still my own whiskey?
The government collects a lot of taxes on hard liquor. I think in the UK it is over 18 pounds per litre. They don't want to lose that money. They don't care about the relitivly small loss from a few peole making small amounts of beer and wine.
because it is a licence product by authorised by her majesty
well "whiskey " is an irish drink so you'd need to be in ireland for a start.
You'd be avoiding customs duty if you distilled your own spirits. Besides which, home made hooch can potentially contain ethanol which is very dangerous. It makes you go blind. There is quite a bit of skill involved in the distillation process for whisky.
do you know how to make your own whiskey you could be my friend for life I am enjoying one at the moment cheers
