is this why my dad looks like that then

LOL

he doesn't have 8 pints but he does have about 3 or 4 a night at home

Funny.

However, the real answer is that the hops in beer actually do contain an estrogen-like compound.

There's a rare condition called "brewers droop" (which you can search for on the web) that shows brewers who handle lots of hops have trouble 'getting it up'.

First of all, "Brewer's Droop", or alcohol impotence, is not caused by hops that 'contain an estrogen-like compound'.

What that terminology refers to is overconsumtion of alcohol over an extended period of time (i.e. alcoholism). This "affects the nervous system and impairs the impulses between the brain's pituitary gland and the genitals". Alcoholics often suffer this nerve damage and testosterone levels are also inhibited, therefore decreasing sexual desire.

Good beer in moderation, however, has many health benefits. Hops have been shown to lower the risk of stroke, cardiac & coronary disease, and prevent cancer.
