I actually think the drinking age should be lowered to 19. I think 18 is too low. People who are high school aged don't need to be legally drinking or hanging out in bars with adults. However once you are 19 most people are done with high school and in college or supporting themselves. However I do like that the current age separates the young crowd from the older crowd and it's nice knowing that everyone I'm in the bar with is at least a little bit more mature.

The drinking age on the military base where I live is 18yrs old. It is horrible! We have 10X more DUI's then most places and now even rapes are occuring all alchoul related!

no 18 year olds get themselves killed by drunk driving and performing stupid stunts deffinetly not mature enough for drinks

There is no "right to drink alcohol."

Just saying. :) lol

Nonetheless...if someone wants to drink, they will - regardless of their age. I personally look back and know for a fact that I was not responsible enough at the age of 18 to drink alcohol...but I did. I don't regret it, but I do agree with the current age restriction and I wish more young adults took it seriously.

If ur 18 already, then u sure can decide for urself.Just do it in moderation.

This is an easy one for me, the drinking age should be 18. The idiots who drink than drive intoxicated have been drinking illegally all along and saying it is illegal isnt stopping them. Then there are the people who are under 21 and dont drink because it is illegal, obviously if it was legal at 18 and they did drink they wouldnt be driving drunk anyways. Instead of having it as a taboo like we do with everything in America we should teach our kids how to be responsible and civil with their liquor's. To often are we afraid of something so we just ban it instead of spreading the knowledge on how to handle it properly.

We abuse our right to drink as a society enough as it is. We don't need younger kids drinking. The only thing that would happen with that would be increased rates of prom night pregnancies and fatal prom night car crashes. If anything we need to raise the drinking age to 25 or make it illegal altogether. Legalize marijuana and illeagalize alcohol. How many domestic disturbances do you hear about from people who are high? How many bar fights are caused by stoners? At least the people who are high aren't making that much of a disturbance, they're just wasting their own lives aways instead of affecting everyone else around them like drunk people do. Seriously.

It was 18 when I was growing up and I think that is a fair age. People 18 to 20 are drinking anyway, why make criminals of them?

Lets face it.
Drinking in itself and in moderation is Ok.
But, it usually dosen't work that way( especially with younger peeps).
Teens like to push it to the limit.( most, not all).
Alot of accidents, dui's, just alot of of bad comes out of it and nothing good.
Not a good tradeoff.
So, no I can't agree with changing the drinking age. I think it should be raised to 25 ( just my opinion). I've seen to much.
As far as the war?
( see the ever so illustrious Mr. Bush on that one).

Lower the drinking age! Think about it, you can fight a war when your 16, have kids when your 16, get married at 16 and you need booze in order to do all of those!

I believe no one should drink, whether they are 18 or 80!
Alchoholism is a disease!

Hell no. Cause all you teenie weenies can't hold your booze.

i live in aussie and here the drinking age is 18
im 16 atm and to be honest, it is probably a good idea to have the drinking age lifted to 21 but ill be bloody pissed off if they change it b4 im 21 ;)
realistically, it doesnt make heaps of difference though because alcohol is relatively easy to get under age any way

i'm from holland were the drinking age is 16 (For beer and wine and RTD's)
but a couple of years ago i moved to new zealand were the drinking age is 18 for all alcohol.
the first party i went to in NZ i saw some 16 Y/O dude sculling back a bottle of Jim Beam (40%+) now i no for a Fact that in holland an underaged person wud never drink spirits unless he/she is drinking shots which rarely happens in holland (i've never seen under 18's do it).
NZ has one of the highest DIU percentages in the world but this is probably due to the fact that we can drive a car when were 15 (and also the highest suicide rate and teen pregnancy rate) so i say beer and wine when your 16 spirits when youre 18 and driving when your 18!

Definately 18.. or at least be consistent and raise the firearms licence age to 21 (in USA) and the voting age etc.
There is no medical basis for the arbitrary law that drinking should be 21. It seems to be widely accepted that 18 is when people are mature enough to vote so why not mature enough to make the choice to drink and hopefully drink responsibly?

Furthermore what is up with 21 no exceptions? (not being able to drink under parental supervision).. All this does is make alcohol seem like a tabooed substance and when people can get hold of it they are more likely to abuse it, especially considering they have no idea of their limitations or even just what is excessive..

The drinking age here is 18 and always has been but now the government wants to up it to 21 like america as usual we are a little america. This is one argument I agree with as I'm sick of teens yelling and fighting up and down the streets. I know they say a lot of under age drinkers will still drink but they won't have 18yr olds to get it for them. Hopefully this will stop a lot of under age drink driving or p plate drivers whilst under the influence.

I live in the UK where the drinking age is 18. I honestly think it should be raised to 21 here, or should have been many years ago. Our country is ridden with alcohol related crime in teenages, the state of it actually made it to Time Magazine's front page!

The whole situation is beyond control.

no!! no way!!
and i even think that no one should drink it!!
it's bad and ur not gonna die if you didn't drink alcohol!! DUH!!

in serbia there is no drinking age so...i kinda dont care really

I think no way! Eighteen year olds are just not mature enough for it, and most 21 year olds aren't even mature enough for it. I've been to so many bars and clubs where the 21, 22, and 23 year olds cannot handle themselves and start fights with other people minding their own business. * I am only 22 myself but the stupidity pisses me off* They get to be way to rowdy, and think they are top sh**. If the drinking age were to be lowered to 18 we would have twice as many people drinking themselves stupid and doing more stupid things. Id much rather have them experiment at home where they more then likely not harming anyone else but themselves then to have to deal with them in a bar or a club. All you have to do is turn on any show dealing with spring break to understand the drinking age should not be lowered!

Ye''ll yea 18!!! Come On Now... The Way I Have
To hide it now is fuckkkin stupid... i would have sooo much more fun the other way...hahaha

Let 'em drink! Just make the DUI's stricter! It's like that everywhere in Europe and they don't have many problems that I know of! =)
