I have a white wine and...?!
Answers: i need to prepare something for lunch or dinner.. my friends told me that white wine is best for pasta dishes and seafoods? does it make any sense? any idea pls.. thanks in advance.
yes red wine usually goes with meat dishes like steak, porkchops, beef, lamb, turkey and chicken. White wine usually brings out the flavor of seafood like lobster, fish, prawns, crabs and white sauce pasta. There are no rules, however, and you can just go with what your tastebuds say. The point is to bring out and enhance the taste of food with the wine flavor. I usually use red wine to go with a meat sauce pasta, and white to go with a white sauce seafood based pasta. I also happen to cook with white wine (add to chicken, chopped onions and cream of chickensoup, bake forty five mins) and have that dish with red wine..YUM! hope this helps..
Actually, in this day & age the old "rules" of white wine for fish, poultry or pasta in white sauce, and red wine for meat or pasta in red sauce are long gone.
Whatever wine you like the taste of, serve!
1 1/2 cups milk
1/2 cup white wine
8 tbsp sifted flour
2 tbsp butter
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
1/4 tsp fennel seed
1/4 tsp oregano
2tbsp finely chopped onion
1tbsp finely chopped celery
2tbsp finely chopped mushrooms
1 cup skinless, boneless chicken breast... 3/4" cubes
Brown chicken.
Add all ingredients into a pot and simmer for 20 minutes.
This is great with Rotini or Rigotoni, but you favourite pasta will do.l
White meat - white wine. Red meat - red wine. By pasta dishes they probably meant things like fettuccini al fredo. Pasta with red sauce usually does best with red wine.
You can have white wine like a Sauvignon Blanc or a Riesling with seafood like lobster, scallops, prawn, pasta, chicken, veal and so on. Good with salads too and vegetable soups. Champagne and white Zinfandel is good too.Enjoy!

seafood... shrimp scampi (remember to cook shrimp all you have to do is lightly quickly heat them... remember that you can eat them raw... if you overcook them they will shrivel up and be tiny/rubbery) a pasta salad using italian dressing tri color pasta, a block of pepperjack cut up, a block of monterey jack cut up, a cucumber cut into small cubes, red pepper, broccoli, and grilled chicken or fish. serve cold.
For meat and tomato based pasta, a light red like Chianti or Barbera are best. For seafood a dry/citrusy white is the only way to go (sauvignon blanc is my favourite with seafood). Splash a couple of ounces of the wine you will be drinking on your food during cooking. Now, for those who say there are no rules: maybe if you dine in the family, but if you have guests it's better to follow the accepted rules, so that you don't disappoint anybody.
no it does not. white wine is best serve with western food like fish fritters or something. chardonnay red wine is the best to go with pasta dishes and seafood. white wine is cold, so if u still wanna serve it, i would suggest a cold pint of beer. pasta dishes goes well with non-cold beverages. red wine is the best mate. :)
