There is no bottle of wine worth $100.

You will notice some quality differences as you come up the price spectrum. However, there are some very nice wines under $20, and I have some favorites in the $10-$12 range.

the quality of the ingrediants

there are many factors that have to be taken into consideration. To start with, the care that goes into making a $100 bottle of wine is far greater than that of a $8.99 bottle of wine. A bottle of wine that is $8.99 is mass produced for mainstream wine drinkers. It doesn't necessarily mean that it won't be good. Usually wine that is a $100 a bottle has been hand picked in every way starting from the grapes, to the barell and all the way down the the cork.

If all you care about is getting drunk, why are you paying 8.99 for a bottle of wine? You can get wine for 2 dollars per bottle, or by the box even cheaper than that!

The price of wine is influenced by how much it costs to produce as well as how much commotion it causes in the wine community. Expensive wine is typically made in smaller batches with more attention paid to detail, such as the quality of the grapes and the presence of impurities in the must.
