What kind of rum goes best with coke?!

Question: What do you want your rum and coke to taste like? If you want it to taste like lighter fluid, use a Bacardi product. Bacardi is column distilled, like Vodka, and ends up tasting like jet fuel, no matter what you do to it. (And if you use 151, you really _can_ set it on fire, if you float it right).

If you want a mellow taste, try a Cruzan dark, and for a sweeter, more crisp taste, Cruzan light.

Right now, the most popular rum and coke at my bar is Cruzan black cherry rum and coke.. tastes _exactly_ like old-fashioned cherry coke, without that Zippo-fluid zing you get from the Bacardi.

Theres as many rums as there are days of the month.. experiment a little next time you are at the bar. It's a very wide palette to paint with.

parrot bay coconut rum is soooo yummy with coke.

as a bartender i have to say the best tasting and most popular is Bacardi clear or Bacardi 151...but really its all in what flavors you like!

jack daniels.

Bacardi 151

I prefer whiskey with coke...but if its rum, I'd say The Captain. Captain Morgan.

Crown Royal :)

whatever is on sale. u wanna get drunk. y spend 25 bucks when u can spend 12 bucks for twice as much?

Barcardi Dark. Not the Special. It is gross. We love it also in frozen and rocks daiquiris.
Also use a little squeeze of lime in that rum and coke...called a cuba libra (sp???) is very nice and cooling in the summer.

VAT 19

Bacardi Rum , if it is still obtainable.

Mt. Gay you fibber lipslobbershits

bacardi, captain morgan, or appleton (kind of sweet/spicy). all brown, brown, and brown!

In this house only one rum mixes with Coke...Captain Morgan's Spiced Rum. I prefer it with Diet Coke while the wifey uses original Coke.

a dark one adds more flavour

Sailor Jerry's Spiced Navy Rum "92 Proof". Use caffeine free diet coke, as regular coke is too sweet. Don't let the name fool you, this rum will make you quit drinking regular Captain Morgans, and yes, it has a girl in a Hulu Skirt on it. I only like the spiced rums, as I find the regular rums undrinkable.

If anyone disagrees, I would be happy to arrange a 'test' for you with my mercenary buddy (a 'pro' drinker) from Africa on his next visit here. 15 years ago he put me on a rum named Spiced Gold, which is made by Captain Morgan but I have never seen in the States, and this Sailor Jerry's is on the same 'top shelf' as the Spiced Gold. That Bacardi's and other crap is for women and queers. Cheers

overrated and overall favourite is Bacardi , cos that is what most pub and club offer...

you should be experimental and try others as well.... I feel that there are many rum's out there that are equally nice ...

the best rum I've tasted are those that are locally made and not export to the whole world... they are either more fragrant(smell of the sugar and field) or more bite to it...

basically any rum goes with COKE...cos COKE has a favour by itself..

I would go for the dark rums myself.
I like Appletons alot, its a nice sweet rum thats good neat with a coke back.
