How do you determine the "body" of a cigar when smoking it?!

Question: I'm just not getting it.

Answers: I'm just not getting it.

Despite the moron above me, this question makes perfect sense for the BW&S section...

The "body" of a cigar refers to the smoke itself. Is it thick smoke, or somewhat light... or maybe it's somewhere right in the middle. It refers to the "weight" of the smoke on your tongue, so to speak. Oftentimes, lighter colored smokes will have a light to medium body, whereas maduros will have a medium to heavy body, although this isn't always the case.
You have to experiment and see for yourself.
Pick up Cigar Aficionado and choose 3 smokes they review: 1 light or mild
1 medium
1 heavy or full
Don't try to smoke them all in one evening - it will be sensory overload and you'll confuse your palate... Take notes while you smoke. Obviously you know aroma, appearance, flavor, draw, and construction of the stick... note all those things, but concentrate on the body, or mouthfeel (quite simply, how it feels on your tongue.)
It's quite interesting how so many can differ so greatly.

Cheers.

stick it up your .....

and your food question is....................................

Body is known as a cigars intensity or strength.

Its like wine it refers to the smoke and the flavor. Some are strong some are mild or light. When you smoke it like wine swirl it remember it and compare it to others. If your new to smoking you may want to keep a log so when you try different ones you can remember and compare! Good Luck!
