YES

whats the benifit of smoking ?
it fu'cks up your health, and you pay for that?

yes it should be banned

Absolutley! it causes cancer and heart diseace.
Then liquor for car accidents and psyrosis of the liver.
Then Big Macs and Whoppers for fatty arterial buildup and obesity.
Then lolipops and all other sugary candies for the high fructose corn syrup.
Then chicken and beef for the antibacterials in the meat from them digesting it to fight off cattle diseases.
Then planes, trains, and automobiles - because they all sucked in the movie... although the movie is a CLASSIC!!

no it shouldnt be banned, you know why, because in this country we are supposed to have rights, they are being taken away from us every day, if somebody wants to smoke, enjoys smokeing and it makes thier life better, what is wrong with it? they know the risks involved and they do it anyway because it is thier choice to do so and they enjoy it, nobody has the right to tell somebody ele what they want.

and for everybody who says to ban it, please i would be glad to know your reasoning for tryiong to control these other people's lives, if they enjoy what they arre doing HOW IS IT YOUR PLACE TO TELL THEM OTHERWISE??? please if you can come up with a reasonable answer i am open to email

no simply because chewing tobbacco and smoking is ok simply if used sparingly. Yes because it is addictive although chewing tobbacco focuses me on homework those long days where all I want to do is sleep..

no, sure, it may not be the best thing for you, but this is america, we are supposed to make mistakes on our own.

No, because banning substances creates a huge criminal empire. Do some research on the days of prohibition (alcohol was illegal). Also look into some of the arguments for the legalization of marijuana. Even people who think that marijuana is bad for you will argue that keeping it illegal has huge consequences to our society. Criminal and financial (a huge industry produces no tax revenue)

OF COURSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have you ever heard of the Constitution of the United States?

No, for if you make it illegal, you drive it underground and people will do anything for their fix.

As noxious of a habit it is, keep it out in the open, where it can be seen

No. (although I don't feel non-smokers should have to be inconvenienced by smokers)

Personally I think the war on tobacco is a little f*cked up. You ask a billion people if they know whether or not cigarettes are addictive and unhealthy and you'll be hard-pressed to find one person who doesn't know these facts. Even before people knew scientifically that cigarettes were bad for you they had a pretty damn good idea. Nobody picks up a cigarette without knowing there's the possibility for both addiction and health problems, just like nobody hops in to their car without accepting the possibility for an accident. This is why they're a controlled substance though. Cigarettes are only available to 'adults' who should be able to weigh the gravity of their choice and assume responsibility for the risks.

People like to demonize the industry saying they really try to get people hooked by tooling around with the formula of the brand and to that I say "No ****?!” It's not like you turn on the TV and see nothing but programming, what you get is a carefully controlled ratio of commercials to entertainment. This is true for any industry and product. It’s only natural that they’re going to milk you for all they can; it’s what’s putting gas in their Porsche.

People can become dependant on all kinds of legal things so it's really unfair to single out tobacco companies simply for providing a luxury item. Nobody is going after McDonalds or Coke for making equally unhealthy items. I don't see "Truth" commercials saying if you eat 2 Big Macs or drink 6 Cokes a day that you're more than likely going to die from heart failure (kills more than cancer FYI).
