Why does mixing clear and dark liquor make you pass out faster?

So I was drinking a few weeks ago, pounding down a vast array of shots left and right. Soon thereafter, I passed out. The next day, I was puzzled as to why this happened so soon. My tolerance for alcohol is usually pretty good, and I made sure I had food in my stomach before the festivities. A friend tells me that it was because I was drinking different colored liquors (ie. Grey Goose and Captain Morgan, among others). So, Yahoo! Answerers, why and how does mixing clear and dark liquor make you pass out faster? or is this all just a myth?!?

I believe it to be a myth that mixing clear/dark makes you pass out faster. Each alcohol type affects each person differently. It could just be that you may have a high tolerance towards alcohol in general, but a certain family of alcohol hits you harder than another, or you just do not have a high enough tolerance towards that particular alcohol.

I have friends that black out after a couple shots of Tekillya .... even gone to jail because of it, but can drink whiskey all night long and remember every detail the next day.

because your mixing sugar too. when you switch colors you body reacts to the different ingrediants in the liquor. when you start with one color your body gets used to processing that. when you go to another color it shocks your body and it doesnt know what to do but shut down. dark liquors have way more sugar so that is going to effect you a lot if you switch from white to dark. and you are also switching from good quality of grey goose to cap mils... all bad yo.

Mixing the white and dark liquor is not what does it it is the alcohol percent of the liquors some are much different than others if it says 80 Proof it is 40% percent alcohol. Like Turkey 101 is a much higher percent of alcohol than most for most are around 30- 80 Proof. Ever clear is the highest and should be used sparingly.
