Most states allow for complimentary servings of alcohol to clients. You will need to check with your local alcohol board for an absolute... Here in Illinois it is fine... My friend does it at his shop and the homebrewing store I go to does it as well. A restaurant my parents frequent in PA doesn't have a license but does the same. You still need to verify age of course.

As the person above me pointed out some states are touchy... Though I imagine that the reason he is in trouble is because he has a liquor license. When I went through alcohol training in Ohio they had a similar law. You could give out drinks to clients for free as long as your establishment doesn't have a liquor license... Once you obtain a license to serve alcohol it must be sold only.

It's a GREAT idea! Perhaps it's worth checking out your local authority or asking someone at your local citizens advice bureau? Might be worth checking out the laws regarding it.

You had better check with the liquor control agency in your state.

Here in Minnesota they are very touchy about giving away alcohol. My bar owner friend is in trouble because she has given away beer during a promotion. And her place is a BAR!
