Why is it that all the tables in pubs are wonky and you have to put a beer mat under the legs?!

Question: I just had to answer your question..Nostalgic memories.. my grandad who passed away four year's ago used to go to a typical 'spit n sawdust' pub, (ie a bit rough!) and used to sit at a table which was opposite a 'leather long seat with plastic tape stuck across)he used to sit at 'his' table that always used to wobble as the pub had no carpet and he always used to fold a beer mat up to keep it from wobbling...when he went to the 'gent's to get his ermm 'extra shopping..'2 quid's worth of cheese 4 a quid (I ask ya !) well we used to move the beer mat and used to drive him crazy with the wobbly table ! ..Happy times and happy memories..thank you for your question x

there not, the pub I go to is fine

It is the floor that is wonky not the tables, that also explains why so many people have trouble walking properly when in the pub. lol.

It's not the table, it is the floor that is uneven! That's why Isambard Kingdom Brunel invented the three legged 'Britania' pub table - three legs are easier to balance on an uneven surface. Little factoid for you!

It's to make you spill your drink so you have to buy another. An old pub trick.

It's a conspiracy of the licencing trade to promote sales due to spillage!

too many drunk leaning on them. lol

(i was also going to put, there probably legless, but sounds a little cheesy now and woul probably get loads of thumbs down. lol)

The tables are fine... You just need to drink more to match the wobble.
