How much rum do you use for a cuba libre/mentirita?!

Question:

How much rum do you use for a cuba libre/mentirita?

How much rum would I use and which type is the best?
Thanks!

Answers:
Well any non spiced rum will work, typically Bacardi rum works well. The more expensive the rum, typically the better it will taste...but not always. The amount of rum you use is dependant on your tastes and how drunk you feel like getting. In the bar i work at we're told to put 1.5 shots in, however those that tip better can ask for a little more, and typically i put in 2-2.5 shots. We use a lowball glass for the drink, so the alcohol taste is pretty strong. I also like to add two limes to the stronger drinks...it helps diminish the burning sensation caused by the alcohol

A cuba libre to be call a cuba libre can only be made with Bacardi superior rum. You use 1.5 oz of rum normally but you can use more if desire. A good bartender will normally put between 2 and 2.5 oz if the person is a regular customer and a good tiper.
