Drinking and not getting drunk?!

Question:

Drinking and not getting drunk?

Is there anyway to drink (alcoholic drinks) and not get drunk?? Last time i got drunk i did some bad stuff so I need to control it this time.

I am thinking of mixing something with the drink that cancels out the alcohol or eat something before or after that destroys the effects.

let me know what you think or know.

thanks in advance

eat bread afterwards, and mix your drinks with some gatorade...reduces hangover

no

all there is is time about an hour per drink

Pace yourself. I've been in a bar for 4 hours, and I'm just starting my 2nd beer. Drinking fast is what gets people in trouble.

I'm glad you recognize that you have a problem with alcohol. And because you have recognized it, you need to stop drinking. Period. You can fake drinking if you don't want to let your buddies down. Walk around with a bottle of beer and pretend to drink it (secretly pour a bit out every chance you get). If you insist on drinking... then learn to SIP your drinks. SLOWLY. I put ice in my drinks (wine, whiskey) and can nurse one glass all night long. No one really knows the difference and I don't have to suffer through a horrible hangover the next day.

Well if you eat a lot of food prior, and drink a lot of water. And not drink so much. You pretty much are going to get drunk if you drink a lot of alcohol, you are going to get drunk no matter what you eat or drink prior and during. Don't eat salty food, though, because you will want to quench your thirst and drink more. Bad idea. It's all about moderation, really, though.

If you are not a regular drinker then one drink should be enough for you or until you start to feel the effects and then stop.

eat before you drink, and eat again in between. Maybe its what your drinking. Try drinking a glass of wine next time. Its not so bad that your wasted, and its just enough to get you buzzed.

If you are drinking a large quantity of alcohol, have a glass of water between each alcoholic drink, and avoid mixed drinks with carbonation as this seems to increase how fast your body absorbs the alcohol into your bloodstream, which gets you drunker quicker, slick.

it is impossible to consume alcohol and not become inebriated. you cannot cancel the effects of alcohol by consuming food. Consuming food before drinking definitely slows the process down. Alcohol is basically a poison, so you're SOL.

and instead of 'cancelling out' the alcohol - just pour yourself some juice and save the money!

Why drink alcohol if you don't want to get drunk or at least buzzed?

If you want to drink and not get drunk or buzzed... well good luck to you as you will probably learn to walk on water before then.

But, if you want to get wasted, but not black out and do stuff you will regret, try other brands/types of alcohol. Many of my friends have learned to avoid a certain brand/type of alcohol because it causes them to act a certain way. One lady friend of mine knows better than to drink Jose Cuervo because she has ended up in jail too many times and not remembered why. Another friend has to avoid some Vodkas because it does the same thing to her. I find that Jim Beam makes me a little po'ed and bitter, so I stick to Jack Daniels and let the good times roll. Even though they are both Whiskeys, I am fine with JD and not Jim.

Hopefully you have some good friends that will help you explore your options for your drink of choice.
