Does white wine need to be kept in the fridge?!

Question:

Does white wine need to be kept in the fridge?

I have a bottle of cheap sweet white wine, which I use when creating sauces, and was just wondering if it needed to be kept in the fridge, or wether I could stick it on the window cill, to free up some room in the fridge.

Cheerts.

Answers:
Wines in general do not need to be refrigerated.

If you are only using the wine for cooking, a bottle should stay "fresh" for up to a week after opening the bottle. (obviously if the bottle is not opened, the wine will keep fresh indefinitely).

If you plan on actually drinking the wine, even with some of the new repressurizing products out there, I wouldn't keep wine for more than two days.

My suggestion would be to buy a really small bottle of wine.

Most decent liquor stores should have 100ml bottles and 350ml bottles of cheap wine. These are perfect for cooking with as they are small and inexpensive.

Hope that helps!

PS

I don't recommend ever putting wine or champagne in the freezer. It kills the flavors and aromas, making the wine a worthless additive.

Wines don't NEED to be refrigerated, however to keep it fresh and so it doesn't end up bitter (going to vinegar) any sooner than it has to, refrigeration is a good idea.

Once opened, it won't be good for long...particularly because it is sweet. So whether on the window sill or in the fridge, I wouldn't include it in any dishes after one week...tops!

no, but after you open it and want to keep drinking it, it'd be a good idea to put it in the fridge!!<3 mucho luv!

Wine should never be kept in the fridge...it should be completely drank....whoooooo hoooo...let's party!

If you don't use it often but want to keep it around for when you do, pour some into a couple of ziploc bags and stick them in the freezer. Then you can take one out at a time as you need it.
