I like it occassionally if I feel like a change

Scrumpy aka Rough Cider is common in the West Country. It is the original form of cider and is still brewed on many farms. It is usually unfiltered and tastes more of apples and is often cloudy. It is usually unexpectedly strong and there are numerous stories of the unwary losing the use of their legs when they get into the open air.

Personally it is not my favourite style of cider, having a sort of "feral" flavour, or in the case of one brand tasting as if it had been strained through through Daisy's (used) straw. However they are infinitely better for you than "white ciders".

If you like Scrumpy also look out for Perry, made from pears.

Nothing to do with ale mate! First time I had it, it was moving up & down in the jar, still alive!

Problem with it is that it tastes like flavoured water, but after about four pints you'll go to the gents & walk into the fcuking wall!

I still like a glass of cider, but that's bad stuff!

mmmmmm!!!Love the stuff!!

I thought Scrumpy was that eco-warrior who was holed up in a tunnel as a protest over some bypass or other about ten years ago ..... wait a second, no, that was Swampy. Oh well, it's the thought that counts .....

Too rough for me!We used to have a cider house pub that just sold cider!!Many a merry night had there!!!!

i love the stuff,if u have a pint of cider before going on the beer it makes the beer taste better.but beware dont let it get hold of u because in the pubs round here the glasses have 3 handles and there is a good reason for that. if you want to why you will have to ask another question.or drink it for 30 years and find out yourself.
