Mixing Water With Alcohol...??!

Question: I know that you aren't suppose to mix water with Vodka because the water evaporates or something, but how long does it take for this to happen?? Is there any other reason you shouldn't do it? I am thinking that this might dilute my drink if i want to take straight shots..

Um, what are you talking about? Vodka is a mix of water and alcohol, adding more water won't do anything but make it weaker.

I have never heard about this effect of mixing water with vodka. That sounds very strange to me. Vodka-tonic, Vodka-selzter, these are common mixed drinks. Obviously mixing vodka with water will dilute the drink and lower the alcohol content, so if you are looking for maximum proof, don't add water!

You can mix water with vodka. In fact when you make a martini you shake it with ice some of which remains in the drink. It is a good idea to drink lots of water when you are drinking alcohol because the alcohol dehydrates your body and causes hangovers. Straight shots are not a good idea.

Mixing water with alcohol is just gross.
Drink it straight. And drink the water before you go to bed.
