Can 2-3 beers a night cause alcohol withdrawals?!

Question:

Can 2-3 beers a night cause alcohol withdrawals?

I was a real heavy drinker.I was spending 100 bucks a week on alcohol. But about a month or so ago i decided to cut back..i tried to quit but that was crazy to think i could do that right away. I thought weenin off is much better. I've been a everyday drinker for over 2yrs now. Now i'm down to 2 beers a night no more than 3.
I have read on many locations 2 beers a night can actually be MORE healthy for you than not having a drink in your entire life. Its good for your heart..when used in moderation.
So if i go cold turkey would i have withdrawals?
How much ...how often do you have to drink to have Dt's?

If you haven't experience withdrawal symptoms such as shakiness, anxiety, increased heart rate and insomnia after you cut down to two beers then you shouldn't experience any problems. People who suffer significant withdrawal symptoms have usually drank much more heavily on a daily basis. They should see their doctor before quitting cold turkey because alcohol withdrawal is one of the few withdrawal syndromes that can be life-threatening. If it's been a month since you cut down to two beers then don't worry about it. Delirium tremens (alcohol withdrawal delirium) only occurs in about 5% of people and only in people who have been drinking very heavily, daily for a long period of time (many months or years). The DT's begin 2-7 days after cessation or reduction in drinking.

yes but i dont think that being good for your health applies to someone who has been an excessive drinker for many years. i cant see why you need to drink 2 cans a night? surley you dont get drunk anyway? just stop your almost there anyway.

I commend you for slowing your drinking down but you do need to see a physician regarding your drinking. I would not recommend you quitting cold turkey since that could be dangerous. Everyone is different in regards to dt's... you should show no symptoms or you could go into cardiac arrest if you were to stop. I strongly suggest a visit with your doctor. Good Luck to you and Congrats on making this wise decision :)
